Collection: Sheep Milk

Sheep’s Milk

Sheep milk is rich and creamy, high in heart-healthy fats, protein, and minerals. It is also a good source of calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin B12.  Sheep milk Ireland is a challenge to find. There are approximately five farmers milking sheep in Ireland, these farmers are all selling to cheese makers. We are the only ones milking sheep year-round in Ireland and selling it to Irish consumers.

Sheep Milk In Ireland

Ireland is a great place to produce high-quality sheep milk. The lush green pastures provide the perfect environment for sheep to graze on and produce high-quality milk that is also used to make our delicious yogurt and cheese. Irish sheep milk is known for its rich and distinct flavour resulting from the unique combination of grass-fed sheep and the terroir of Ireland.

Sheep milk is often considered easier to digest than cow's milk, making it an excellent alternative for those who feel they are sensitive to other milk in Ireland.

Producing Sheep Milk on the Velvet Cloud Farm

Here on the Velvet Cloud farm, we are committed to producing high-quality sheep milk using traditional methods. Our sheep are grass-fed, which means that the sheep are allowed to roam freely and graze on the lush green pastures of County Mayo. This results in healthier and happier sheep, which is higher in fat and protein. We milk our sheep twice daily and know their personalities and temperaments.

How is our sheep milk packaged for you?

To ensure ultimate freshness, the sheep’s milk is poured into one-litre cartons and blast frozen. Blast freezing is a unique ultra-fast way of freezing which ensures that the milk retains all its vitamins and minerals and, on defrosting, is as delicious and creamy as the day it was produced.
