Happy and Sad
The Velvet Cloud Shepherds were all home on Friday
We had a rare gathering of all the junior and senior Shepherds on Friday night, it was so lovely to have one junior Shepherd back home, from her year on Erasmus in Barcelona, another junior Shepherd over in Europe from the US for a few days, and the other two junior Shepherds who are already based in Ireland, all down on the farm for the weekend.
The youngest of the junior Shepherds is celebrating his birthday this week (no more teenagers left in our house). In advance of that we decided to get him a Colin the Caterpillar birthday cake, which was a favourite in our house over the years for birthdays when they were very small. So great fun was had over dinner, but of course I am feeling a bit melancholy now that they are departing, but it was worth every moment.

Cong Food Festival
In other news if anybody is in the Galway or Mayo area next weekend, the Cong Food Festival is taking place on both Saturday and Sunday next weekend (11th and 12th July). It is always a lovely festival, with an incredible selection of local speciality food producers and craft producers, chef demos, gardening talks, childrens entertainment and more. Its in a beautiful setting in the famous Cong Village. If you're there come and say hello, and you will of course get your free pot of yogurt, if you just say you read my newsletter. If you are really really enthusiastic about things like this, tune in to the TV for Ireland AM on Wednesday morning and you never know who you might see!
