Rockfield Sheep’s Cheese
Rockfield Sheep's Cheese is a delicious and award-winning cheese handmade on our family farm in the west of Ireland in County Mayo. We take great pride in producing this cheese using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. The cheese is made using the fresh sheep's milk from our ewes, who graze on grass and clover pastures year-round.
Pasture-reared, grass-fed sheep’s cheese
Our ewes are grass and clover-fed, allowing them to roam freely and graze on the lush green pastures of County Mayo. This results in healthier and happier sheep and produces milk that is higher in fat and protein, which ultimately leads to a more flavourful and delicious cheese. We use clover in our pastures to reduce our reliance on artificial fertilisers. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
Sheep Cheese Production
The cheese-making process is done by hand, following traditional methods and techniques. The cheese is then matured for a minimum of three months, resulting in a semi-hard cheese with a natural rind. The natural rind is edible and adds to the cheese's unique flavour.
Our sheep cheese awards
Rockfield Sheep's Cheese has won numerous awards, including a silver at the World Cheese Awards 2019, Best Irish Cheese and Best overall sheep’s cheese at the Artisan Cheese Awards in the UK in 2022. This is a competition into which hundreds of UK and Irish artisan cheeses are entered. The awards are a testament to our quality and taste.
How do we sell our sheep’s cheese?
