Irish Farmhouse Cheese Producers Were On Tour
Himself was off galivanting in the UK this week! Bord Bia CAIS, along with members of the UK specialty cheese industry, pulled out all the stops and organised a superb networking and business development event in London for Irish Farmhouse Cheese Producers. Buyers and stakeholders of the specialty cheese industry in the UK were invited to attend an event where Irish producers were able to display and offer tastings of their cheeses to key decision makers. Michael went laden down with Rockfield Sheep’s Cheese and Cloonbook Irish Farmhouse Cheese samples!

The group was also taken on a retail safari to visit specialty cheese stores and gain insight into the cheese retail experience in central London, covering pricing, promotion, staff knowledge, and the buyer experience.

What is very clear is that there is a very strong interest and demand for Irish farmhouse cheeses in the UK. At Velvet Cloud, it's going to take us some time to build capacity and be able to exploit all the opportunities and demand coming our way, but it's proving to be a very interesting and exciting journey so far. I think you can tell from the photos that a bit of craic was had as well.
