Velvet Cloud Irish Cheese Board
Our hand-crafted wooden cheese board is the perfect addition to any cheese lover's collection. Handcrafted in Ireland, these cheese boards are made from Irish beech wood, a collaboration between two small rural family businesses based in Ireland - one a local craftsperson and one our family food business in Co Mayo. Each board is unique and showcases various grains, from pale to dark and everything in between.
The Ideal Gift
Our cheese boards are unique in Ireland and perfect for entertaining and make a great gift for cheese lovers. They are the ideal way to present and serve a variety of cheeses, crackers, and other accompaniments. The board's natural wood grain adds a rustic and elegant touch to any cheese platter.
We also offer these cheese boards as a cheese board set that is perfect for any occasion; whether you're hosting a dinner party or simply looking for delicious cheese to add to your charcuterie board, our cheese board set is sure to impress.
Every cheese board is unique
Because each board is handmade, they are therefore unique, and each one will have a different grain, but to give you an idea, the approximate dimensions are 33 cm long x 15.5 cm wide and 2.5 cm thick.
How we present the cheese boards
Each board will be carefully wrapped in tissue, and a beautiful care card, explaining the unique properties of the beech wood and how to care for it, will be included.
The wood our cheese boards are made from
Irish beech has unique properties. Although hard, it will not blunt knives. Unlike oak, beech leeches have no tannins to taint food, especially cheese. It has natural anti-bacterial properties, unlike mass-produced cheese boards treated with chemicals to stop bacteria growth. All boards are finished with food-grade mineral oil that is tasteless and odourless.
Sustainability
The beech wood used in our boards comes from sustainable sources; we only use wood from storm-felled trees or dangerous trees that must be felled. We take sustainability very seriously.
Looking After Your Cheese Board
Boards should be washed in hot soapy water and never put in the dishwasher. Naturally, wood becomes dry with use, so condition it with food-grade oil such as grape seed, tung oil, or beeswax. Don’t use walnut oil, as it can go rancid. Condition approximately once a month.
