It’s unusual for me not to post at least once a week, so my apologies, but the last 10 days have been a bit “mental.” Last Monday was spent cleaning up after Storm Ashley, and on Tuesday, I attended Food On the Edge.
Food On The Edge
This is an international symposium of chefs and foodies from around the world. This is the brain child of Michelin Star Chef JP McMahon of Aniar in Galway and this year was held in ATU in Galway. A few of our chef customers always attend, along with other food producers, so it’s a great networking event.
Sheep's Milk Sorbet
We’ve just developed a sheep’s milk sorbet for food service, and we decided that Food On The Edge was the perfect place for a soft launch and tastings. Thankfully, everyone loved it, and it’s now available for restaurants through our amazing partners at La Rousse Foods. But before you ask, it won't be available in retail for a very long time. Chilled chain logistics are challenging enough; frozen logistics at a small scale are just impossible.
Autumn Colours
The remainder of the week was filled with the usual routine of running two small businesses. Then, during this bank holiday weekend, I had to tackle the job I hate most in the world: getting ready for the tax return and sorting out my expenses. I find this task soul-destroying, and because I dislike it, it takes me hours, along with hundreds of coffee breaks and endless excuses for more breaks. Still, it's done now, and after the torture, I managed to get out for a lovely long walk with the dogs to admire the beautiful autumn colors on the trees and bushes in the bog.
