Air Fryer Bagels - With Velvet Cloud Yogurt

We’ve finally given in

We must be the last family in Ireland to buy an Air Fryer! I was feeling sorry for the youngest gym going , football playing, only one at home during the week, - junior shepherd, who had asked for one before Christmas. I had been keeping an eye out for one at least 4 litres in volume because from what I’ve  read if you have  any more than two people  in the house, you need at least  this size.  They weren’t cheap, but our local LIDL had one for sale last week for €49 and so we are now part of the cool club.

So far, he’s cooked sausages, made potatoes wedges and yesterday an impressive chilli chicken strips,  cheese on sourdough type thing was created.

Naturally I had to get in on the act, one of our followers posted on social media that he had made Velvet Cloud air fryer bagels and in the photo they looked delicious. This customer recommended half plain flour half wholemeal flour, I only had wheat germ in the back of the press so I had to use that instead of wholemeal. They were fab, and perfect warm spread with our creamy soft cheese. I'm going to try with 100% wholemeal next time and report back.

Recipe

1cup Velvet Cloud Yogurt

1 cup Wholemeal flour

1 cup Plain Flour

1 tsp Baking Powder

Pinch Salt

Method

Mix everything in a bowl to make a dough, take dough out onto a floured surface and roll into balls, then with a floured finger make a hole in the middle of the balls, to create the bagel shape. Some people make a snake shape with the dough and then join two ends of the snake together to make the bagel shape.

Place them in the air fryer lined with grease proof paper.

I had sesame seeds in the cupboard, so brushed the bagels with milk and sprinkled with the seeds for toppings, but you can use, poppy seeds, cheese whatever you feel like.

I cooked them at 160 degrees for about 20 mins, or cook until golden. I had to take two of the bagels that you see in the photo out of the fryer to give them more space.
