We got out to the Big Smoke on Sunday night and had the best night. We were at the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, for the Occasion of the EURO-TOQUES IRELAND Young Chef of The Year competition sponsored by La Rousse Foods.
Six of the very best young chefs in Ireland, battled it out for the prize of The best young chef in the country and the winner this year was announced as the wonderful Shauna Murphy currently at Terre Restaurant in Castlemartyr Resort !!
We had the best meal we can ever remember, prepared for us by the best chefs in the country: Dervilla O Flynn at Ballymaloe House, Dan Hanigan at Orwell Road Calum Falls with Bech_Bailey, MarkMoriarty Alberto Rossi and Dani Barry at Ballynahinch Castle. The menu was just incredible. Velvet Cloud was very honored to appear on the menu twice! Our soft cheese appeared in a Beetroot Hummus Velvet Cloud Labneh Canape, and our yogurt in a starter of Iona Farm Carrot and orange Tartare, Velvet Cloud, Pickled Mustard Seed, and Rye Cracker. As if it couldn't get any better, the six young chef finalists had to use Velvet Cloud yogurt as an ingredient in their creations which they had to prepare on Sunday during the day as part of the judging process.
